Dr. Hannes Androsch, together with Michael Strugl, CEO VERBUND, inspected the project progress of the Salzburg line, construction lot 5.

On October 2, 2023, Dr. Hannes Androsch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board EUROPTEN, together with Michael Strugl, CEO VERBUND and the representatives of Austrian Power Grid (APG), inspected the construction progress of the 380 kV Salzburg line, at construction lot 5.

Work began in January 2021 and is nearing completion. They include the construction of a new 23 km long 380 kV double-circuit line and the erection of 78 pylons in difficult mountainous terrain. Within the scope of the project, 4,100 t of mast steel were used.
Due to the difficult terrain, inclines with an angle of up to 49% or 26° were mastered. Another special feature was the height differences of up to 300 m between the masts. The highest mast is located at an altitude of approx. 1,500 m above sea level.

As a key infrastructure project, the Salzburg line is an important milestone on the road to a secure supply of energy.

"To secure our prosperity and competitiveness as a business location in Austria, a future-oriented energy policy is necessary. To this end, the expansion of grid lines must also be accelerated in order to make us less dependent on imports and to contribute to climate protection.
This can only be achieved if measures are not only announced, but concrete actions are taken and projects are realized. EUROPTEN is proud to contribute to one of the most important projects in Austria and to the achievement of the climate goals through our contribution", underlined Dr. Androsch.
