Außerfernbahn, line 5403

The Ausserfernbahn forms the Tyrolean connection piece of the railway line coming from Kempten via Pfronten in the direction of Garmisch and from here on to Munich or Innsbruck. On the Austrian side, the railway line has already been completely electrified. The power supply for the railways currently ends at the Vils border.

The modernization of the railway line is now being continued from the German-Austrian border to the Bavarian border station at Pfronten-Steinach. The electrification of this section should be completed by the timetable change in December 2021.

EUROPTEN has been contracted with the construction of the overhead line system in the Pfronten-Steinach section. For this purpose, stakes are rammed and concrete masts are placed, catenaries are installed and return conductors are laid.
