The new line from Erfurt to Leipzig/Halle was planned as a double-track, electrified line for modern passenger and freight trains. The route has been designed for a maximum velocity of 300 km/h. The track superstructure was constructed by PORR as a slab track.
EUROPTEN planned and constructed the catenary system (construction type Re330) for one third of the line as a subcontractor of SPL Powerlines Germany, which received the order for the overall project from DB ProjektBau GmbH in August 2011.
